Our velocimeters are based on the use of pulsed ultrasonic emissions for Doppler measurement of liquid velocity, including measuring opaque fluids, and other data profiles. The method is non-intrusive. Our velocity profilers provide simultaneous measurements across multiple channels with a wide range of speeds, from 0.01 mm/s to 10 m/s.
We are specifically developing Doppler velocimeters that use the correlation between successive echoes, a principle known as pulse pair processing. High-frequency velocimetry can detect the correlation between echoes and convert them directly into a velocity profile in just a few milliseconds…
Signal Processing SA makes instrumentation for scientists who work in advanced laboratories
and are passionate about phenomena often difficult to measure, primarily researchers in the field
of fluid mechanics.
Our instruments offer the significant advantage of velocity profiling rather than just single-point
measurements. The data is acquired quickly, with a typical velocity profile acquisition time of just a
few milliseconds.
The spatial resolution is excellent, with a measurement volume as small as 1 mm³.
The minimum distance between measurement points within the profile is around a tenth of a millimeter.
The non-intrusive measurements avoid flow disturbance by keeping the probe out of contact with the liquid.
They can be taken in opaque liquids, unlike laser velocimetry, and their evaluation is unaffected by magnetic
fields.
In unidirectional mode, velocity is measured along the ultrasonic axis. Bi- and tri-directional
measurements are possible, with flexible data acquisition, advanced conditional triggering,
and automatic recording.
Founded in 1990 as a spin-off from the Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL),
Signal Processing SA is a test and measurement company based in Savigny, Switzerland.
We specialise in the development of innovative ultrasonic instruments for scientists in advanced
laboratories. Our offering includes ultrasonic velocity profilers (UVP), ultrasonic Doppler velocimeters (UDV),
acoustic Doppler current profiler (ADCP) and
highly sensitive ultrasonic transducers that effectively address challenging measurement needs
using cutting-edge technology.
